Mr Pumpkin
Today, on this Halloween day, I decided to introduce you to Mr Pumpkin!
He lives in a mansion in the remote lands of the Underworld. He lives there alone and only leaves his house once a year, on October 31st, to celebrate Halloween.
When I first drew him, it was about 2 years ago and I wanted to create a character representing the fall season that I love so much. I then asked myself what symbolized, for me, this time of year and being a big fan of pumpkins, squashes and other squashes of all kinds, it seemed obvious to me that this character be characterized by a pumpkin instead of his head. Then, the inspiration came naturally and his story of a very mysterious and somewhat hermit character was written without my mind.
All year long, he spends his time alone at home growing squash (which grow very well in the Maw by the way!) and imagining how he could decorate his mansion for Halloween. Halloween is a very celebrated holiday in the Maw because all the inhabitants feel free to expose their slightly strange peculiarities to everyone's eyes. Vampires, skeletons, witches parade in the foggy paths and ring the doorbells to collect treats. This is why Mr. Pumpkin decides to only go out on this Halloween night and he wants everything to be perfect for the occasion.
When Halloween arrives, his mansion is decorated with its most beautiful pumpkins and he waits patiently for the first inhabitants to come and ring his doorbell.
Once night falls, his neighbors and friends arrive knowing that Mr. Pumpkin's mansion will be the most popular place in the Maw all night long. So they come with their children who are so happy to find Mr. Pumpkin this year and fill their buckets with the delicious treats he has prepared for them. Mr. Pumpkin is also very happy to find them and see a smile on their lips.
Midnight arrived, Mr. Pumpkin being tired, he goes home to rest, his head full of the wonderful moments he has just spent. He will spend the year remembering them while waiting to prepare the next Halloween party.
So you too, next year for Halloween, think about going to see Mr Pumpkin, he will welcome you with great pleasure in his pretty mansion decorated with his most beautiful pumpkins.
